Haven of Rest International Ministries has been the hands and feet of Jesus since its inception seeking the lost and the forgotten. Providing men, women, and children with much-needed love and encouragement throughout the year, HORIM’s Community Outreaches are organically driven with intentional giving to empower those who are blessed by the ministry.
Every May, HORIM celebrates all mothers, especially those facing financial, spiritual, or emotional challenges. Our Mother’s Day Outreach takes place on Mother’s Day Weekend at different women’s shelters throughout Houston and the surrounding counties providing Mother’s Day gifts to mothers residing in the shelter.
Our fathers are essential because God has given them the capacity to carry the family. However, many are beaten down and overcome with life’s trials that they cannot fulfill their responsibilities. Haven of Rest provided an outlet for these fathers by giving gifts to homeless fathers on the streets of Downtown Houston.
Many of these fathers are not in contact with their families and feel forgotten, but they are remembered, honored, and celebrated today.
Many parents purchase school supplies for the new school year in August, but that is not so for every parent. HORIM has made its mission that every child has the supplies needed to start the new school year. Our Back-to-School drive provides free school supplies to children in the community. There is a greater need, but with the help of God, who makes all things possible, we can ensure every child’s backpack is never empty.
Holidays are a time of joy, laughter, family gatherings, and gift-giving, but many in our community cannot celebrate due to financial hardship. Haven of Rest has ensured that every Thanksgiving and Christmas is a memorable one for all by providing Turkeys to the community and the local women’s shelter. Turkeys and food items are not the only things given, but our team delivers the message of hope and encouragement.
This hope and encouragement continue to December, where we give children Christmas gifts to the local shelter. We never want any child to feel that they cannot experience the magic and joy of Christmas given their current circumstance. A HORIM Christmas would not be complete without this Christmas activity.
